COMPTON, JEAN (WOODEN)
FLINT/FORMERLY OF OWOSSO
Passed away Tuesday evening February 9, 2010 at the Mclaren Regional Medical Center in Flint. Age 84. She was born on August 25, 1925 in Unionville, MI. Her parents were the late Harley and Dorothy (Palmer) Wooden. She married Rev. Lewis Compton on June 19, 1948 in Flint. He passed away in 2002. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Special Education from Eastern Michigan University. Jean was a teacher for deaf students. She also received the Pan Hell award / Scholastic award. Those left to mourn her include her two children and their spouses: Ric (Deb) Compton of Menasha, WI and Affeelea (Mark) Nevling of Hume, Illinois. Two Grandchildren and Three Great Grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. Those who have passed away include her parents, husband, and two sisters, Bea Wright and Phyllis Kiefer. Jean has been cremated. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Owosso. The family will be present at the church to receive friends on Saturday morning starting at 9:00 A.M. Pastor Jim Eaton will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the Lake Louise Christian Community United Methodist Camp, 11037 Thumb Lake Road in Boyne Falls, MI 49713.
